About Our Payment Methods

One of the first questions we usually get from a new customer is; “Why can’t I pay with my credit card?” We’ve set up this page to answer that question as well as to provide details about the payment methods that we do accept. We’ve included videos that are intended to help with the setup process for the payment apps we use. If you still have questions regarding payments, you can contact dan@mitraspec.com

Why can’t I just pay with my credit or debit card?

Believe me when I say, it’s not that we don’t want to… The issue is that the payment card companies (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, AmEX, etc.) have banned sales of kratom. The most likely reason that they have this policy is out of ignorance and fear. In 2013 the Department of Justice created an initiative called Operation Choke Point. The purpose of the initiative was to stop banks from dealing with certain industries that the administration believed were at high risk for fraud and money laundering. While the initiative ended in 2017 it has done a very good job of permanently scaring banks away from doing business with companies in those industries.

Accepted Payment Methods and Instructions

Green Money is the US’ oldest and most well respected e-check gateway.

Green Money is the US’ oldest and most well respected e-check gateway.

E-check: To pay for your order with e-check, select the “E-Check” payment method at checkout. When you click on “Complete Payment” you will be taken to a page that will have your order information including the total where you will enter the routing and account number for your checking account. The most important thing to keep in mind when using e-check is to make certain that the information from the “Billing Address” section on your order matches the information your bank has associated with your checking account. Also be sure to enter your phone number in the format xxx-xxx-xxxx (with dashes).

Are E-checks Safe to Use?

Since the early days of online fund transfers, electronic encryption has greatly improved, preventing fraud and data theft. For customers, transferring funds electronically is safer than a paper check, since there is no document that gets handled, and far fewer individuals will have access to their account information. If a fraudulent charge is made to an account, customers are protected by Regulation E (Reg. E), which requires banks to allow a consumer to revoke a payment if they consider it fraudulent. They can do this within 60 days of their bank statement on which the charge occurred. This is not the case with credit cards.

What if I Can’t Open a Checking Account"?

We understand that some of our customers have had financial issues in the past that may be preventing them from opening a checking account. The way banks check to see if you have a problem like this in your history is called “ChexSystems” and the good news is that not all banks use ChexSystems to pre-screen their applicants. The following list of banks are known to offer “2nd Chance” bank accounts, they either don’t use ChexSystems or they make their decisions on a case by case basis with credit history only being a small part of the decision making process. If you think you can’t open a checking account, try these banks first: TD Ameritrade, Axiom Bank, Woodforest National Bank, United Bank, Southwest Financial Federal Credit Union, Green Dot, Wells Fargo Opportunity Checking, Capital One 360 Checking, BBVA Compass - For more information about these banks and a better explanation of ChexSystems, check out this page: https://www.gobankingrates.com/banking/banks/9-banks-dont-use-chexsystems/

Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency: There are only two forthright “approved” payment methods for kratom, E-check and cryptocurrency. I’ll be using Bitcoin in this example but this process applies to all major cryptocurrencies. To pay by Bitcoin, select the “Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency” option at checkout. When you tap the “Go To Payment” button, you’ll be taken to a page that will show the order total and give you a list of “Coins” that you can use to pay (we accept 69 different coins). The list will show you the amount of that particular coin that it will take. For Bitcoin we’ll select the “Bitcoin - BTC” button and then enter our first and last name. On the next page you’re presented with our bitcoin payment address and a QR code that you can scan with your Bitcoin wallet app. Here, you can scan the code with your app to automatically send the correct amount or you can copy the payment address and manually enter it into your wallet. If you need to, you can send from more than one wallet. The processor will combine the separate amounts. Once you’ve sent enough to complete the transaction, you just need to wait for the transaction to be verified on the blockchain. You can check the status of the transaction using the link on the payment page.

How Do I Get Bitcoins?

There are a tremendous number of websites that explain the whole process a lot better than we can here, but the easiest way to buy bitcoins is through the Square Cash App. All you need to do is download the app, verify your identity in the app, and once that’s complete, you will be able to buy Bitcoin instantly, using your debit card or checking account. When the purchase is complete, you can then “withdraw” your bitcoins to the payment address you were provided on the payment page. Other options include: Bitit.io, Coinbase, & Binance to name a few. All Bitcoin and crypto wallets, have different ways they operate. Some allow you to purchase with a credit card, but most require that you have a debit card or checking account to fund your wallet.
